About me

My name is Diana (Dee-ana) Rico and I am a junior in the elementary education program at FGCU. I was born in Miami Florida and raised in Guatemala. I used to live in Guatemala, Guatemala City and I lived there from the age of 3 to 12. Then I moved to the United States directly to Cape Coral Florida.  I went to “mundo magico” (Magic World Elementary) I went there form Pre-k to kindergarten. After I went to “Liceo Secretarial BilingΓΌe” and did first grade through fifth grade. Then I came to the United States and entered Trafalgar middle school and continued to go into Ida S. Baker high school. I decided to take on the teaching career in high school and decided to enter FGCU to pursue my goal.
I have always worked with children and volunteered in children programs. I have always been involved in church and in the children ministries. Currently I am the children’s ministries leader at my church. Also I work at Canterbury school as an extended day aid, taking care of children in the after school program. Also I am a youth leader at my church and I mentor teens.
I have a family of six; I have two older brothers and one older sister. My oldest brother Petar is 35, my brother Alberto is 34, my sister Paola is 26 and I am 21 and the youngest of all four. They all live in the beautiful country of Guatemala and in Guatemala City.  They are all married and have children. I have four nieces and one nephew ranging from 9 to 2 years old.  I am not married; I do not have a boyfriend and do not plan to anytime soon.
